Alterity I like them

I am convinced that all that God has revealed to the Prophets as necessary for salvation is set down in the form of law, and in this way the Prophets made up entire parables depicting God as king and lawgiver, because he had revealed the means that lead to salvation and perdition, and was the cause thereof. These means, which are simple causes, they call laws, and wrote them down in the form of laws; salvation and perdition, which are simply effects necessarily resulting from these means, they represented as reward and punishment. All they wrote was adjusted to the framework of this parable rather than to truth. --Spinoza
